Most of the families I work with came from someone who'd already been through it. If a friend, colleague or cousin is house-hunting in North Dallas, sending them here is genuinely the most useful thing you can do for both of us.

No payment for referrals — by law and by preference
RESPA prohibits paying anyone for mortgage referrals, and you should be wary of any lender who offers. What your friend gets is the same thing you did: someone who answers the phone, explains the numbers properly, and tells them honestly when waiting is the better move.
